Washing machine parts guarantee

Hi,

DH & I have just bought a new Whirlpool washing machine for £180 in the sale. It comes with an automatic 1 year guarantee, but offers an 8 year parts guarantee for £25. Is this worth geetting?

They guarantee the parts but not the labour to repair. The labour is the expensive bit (and you have to use them for the repair), the parts generally cost them peanuts.

And they won't just send you the part to fit yourself - you have to use their approved repairers with a minimum call-out fee.

I got a 5 year parts and labour warranty with my previous Hotpoint - but they neglected to mention that there is a £85+VAT fee per call out! :eek:

By the way, Basmic, I've got relatives living in your neck of the woods, in Great Burden & Newton Aycliffe. And my late gradnmother used to live in Ferryhill

I'm familiar with all three names - my parents live very close to Ferryhill.
