Paying off a credit card

Hi all,

This is probably a silly question but can you pay money off a credit card by simply transferring money from one bank account to the credit card account?

For example, if I hold an account at Halifax but my credit card is with HSBC, can I make a payment from my Halifax account which will be accepted onto my HSBC credit card?

I ask because I have destroyed my card and now can't make payments to it as I don't have the internet login details! I can always order a new one but would prefer not to.

IF I understand the question correctly, then yes, of course. It's just making a payment to a credit card from your bank account, people do it all the time!

You don't need to an order a new card to get your internet login details though, just call them and ask them to resend (or requesst online).

Yes you can.

The payment details should be on the reverse of your statement (sort code, account no, ref), but you might want to check/confirm with your card provider first and/or send a small test payment.

Yes - the credit card bill will list the bank account details for you to transfer money electronically to, on the back.

You then simply enter those details into the Halifax online banking and pay the required amount.
