Well I,ve had lot of bother recently between Staywarm and Scottish Power and just by luck I had kept Staywarm receipts since 2001 otherwise they wouldnt have refunded what they had been paid from myself.I had to get some of receipts copied as they wanted proof0

Strictly speaking they can go back 6 years.
So if you want to be really safe then keep them for that amount of time.
In reality I would think it's extremely rare they go that far back out of the blue. Personally I keep things for a year.0 -
I've only recently got rid of utility bills from 1982 - lol Well they were in a folder in the loft.0

I started scanning mine in case I need them and saved the jpeg format in adobe pdf. I also do this with receipts and manuals in case I loose them and as I have so little space it easier that way.0

I would keep them as long as you can. How many times have you seen on here people not having any record of their meter readings when they wanted to work out their consumption. You have a ready made record of your meter readings on the bills going back 7 years, what some people would have given for that.0
