Website purchase how do I pay in dollars not Euro?

Hi
I am trying to make a purchase off the web. The item is priced in dollars, but when I try to pay the price changes to be shown in Euro automatically and at a terrible conversion rate substantially inflating the price. I suspect its just a different price rather than a conversion of the dollar price. How does the website know I am in the UK and therefore change the price to Euro's and is there anyway to enable payment in dollars (or make it believe I am in the US?)

the website knows you're in the UK, via your IP address... do a quick search for anonymous proxies, and you'll find one that will give you a US ip, so therefore you can pay in $

I have found sites listing the ip number of the proxy servers, but I am an idiot when it comes to computing and do not know what to do with this ip number, any tips?

    thanks

Tell us the website and we'll have a play around.

We should always accord posters on here the fundamental courtesy of assuming they are not dumb enough to be using Windows unless they actually say so.
