I had one of the g-save devices fitted 18 months ago and can report that it has saved me 21% on my gas bill in a small 2 bed cottage, I was so pleased with the result I bought one for my parents and got it fitted by a local electrician.

I am not technical and to be honest I don't care how it works - it just does!! I saw it recommended by Good Housekeeping - that was good enough for me.

I assume you are more concerned with commercial matters?

I am extremely sceptical of the motives of people who join MSE and their first post is to post is to promote a product. 3 first time posters telling us how good the product is!!!!

Post #2 summed it up - It cannot and does not work!!!!!

Us experienced MSE'ers have more intelligence than to waste money on a money saving device/scheme only to discover it doesn't actually save any money

I think you missed the point entirely I have saved money and for me it works very well. A reduced gas bill does it for me - when you have tried something for yourself you are able to honestly comment!

Sounds like snake oil to me.
Turning down your room and cylinder stats would have the same effect.
Even better spend the £150 on winter woollies.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

People come on MSE and claim all sorts of devices save money.

Magnets strapped to fuel lines of car(petrol or diesel) or oil CH apparently reduce fuel consumption by far more than your device if their claims are to be believed.

If the device was any good it would be tested by a reputable organisation. Good Housekeeping tested it for a week and concluded it made savings - they should stick to a recipe for making jam!!

However I simply do not believe that 3 different people discovering a thread on this device on MSE and feeling compelled to join and post in praise of the product is a coincidence!!!

OK, not a newbie and nothing to do with any of the 1-off posters.

I got one of these g-save boxes, and ran a test - 1 week's meter readings without it fitted, and 1 week with it connected. Thermostat and timer controls remained unaltered during the 2 week period, 17/11/09 - 01/12/09.

During the week with g-save not in use I used 30 cubic meters of gas.

During the week with g-save connected, I used 23 cubic meters of gas.

So that's a saving of 23.3%, equivalent to 78.37 Kwh, which would have cost £2.30 on my tariff.

Ours is quite an old Baxi boiler, with hot water priority, so that means the g-save only works on the CH circuit, not the HW. But by saving a couple of quid a week during the autumn / winter months, I reckon that makes it a worthwhile purchase.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

But at a price of £156 (plus fitting-say £220 all in), a saving of £2 a week for 6 months of the year is going to require 4 years before it even breaks even.
