Car insurance - delayed claim issue

Morning all
Hope you can help. I had an accident in May that was my fault (wasn't concentrating and drove into the back of a van). We exchanged details at the scene but I never heard anything so I figured that I had just run into the back of a someone driving a company vehicle who had very kindly not passed on my details and had assumed he had just told his company that he had left the van and come back to it damaged.
My car wasn't damaged at all so I figured that was the end of it. this morning, however, a letter turned up from my insurance company with a claim form that they want me to fill in. Surely there must be some sort of time frame within which you have to claim if you are going to?? Also, if there was no damage to mine that I claimed for - can I deny all knowledge?
Any advice gratefully received.

Yes there is a time limit, it's 6 years (3 for personal injuries).
I'm sure that denying all knowledge would be illegal (and not very nice - would you like someone to do that to you?).
You gave them your details plus they may have witnesses, plus it's immoral.
Do you have protected NCD?
If your NCD is protected and this is your first accident within the last 5 years then you won't be affected.
Anyway you should do the right thing and own up.
How would you like someone to damage your property through carelessness and then deny all knwoledge leaving you to pick up the bill? Not very nice is it?0
