Hello
I am looking for a bit of advice when it comes to Virgin Media.
I've just transferred a account into my name (effectively creating a new account) and changed to the V+ service. When speaking with the lady on the phone (I do have her name), she offered me all manner of things to keep us (orginally I cancelled the contract we had as they wouldn't give me a new customer offer). This included free installation. Now virgin are saying that installation was half price (£75 for 10 minutes work). I have told them that I am not prepared to pay this as I never agreed to it (this was installed on the 17th December and therefore as I understand I am still in the cool off period if I chose to disconnect). Am I right to believe this and what is there to stop virgin just taking the money via DD?

I think they only offer a 14 day cooling off period unless you took the full package with a mobile contract in which case it will be 30 days, see here.
Of course this will be wrong if you have something in writing offering the 30 day period, as for them taking the money, they WILL take it unless you cancel your direct debit now.
Before you cancel it you may want to consider if this will impact your credit rating in any way and if it would be best to pay then try and claim it back, either way should you not just call them now and sort it out ?0 -
I have already spoken with VM but wanted to check where I stood if they decided to keep the charge on my account. However, it looks as if they have removed the charge; I've just got to wait for them to take the DD to confirm this.0
