It all depends on what outputs you have on the back of the laptop, you probably have a VGA out, a blue D shaped connector with 15 holes in it on 3 layers. Your TV will have the same type of connector on it well most do so have a look then you need a cable to go between them. Some laptops will have S video out on them same again you just connect that to the svideo in on the TV if it has one.

Post the model numbers of your TV and laptop and we can see what connections they have on them and advise you better.

    The laptop has both
    svid-fem_640.gif
    Svideo and
    300px-SVGA_port.jpg
    VGA out
on it so you can use either if the TV has them, I would probably go for VGA as it is easier to Set up you just plug it in and it works where as S video should do the same but I have had problems in the past.

As the TV is the older model they are now on the 80 series and yours is the 60 I can't find the info out on what it has input wise. I know the 70 series plasmas have svideo in on them I would think the 60 does also it is in the pop out flap on the 70 series plasma I have. svideo is usually on the front or front accessible as video cameras use it.

So the VGA cable you need is male to male, male ends have pins on them (bits sticking out) female ends have holes think of it that way and it is easy to remember

If your TV has an svideo connector and you want to go that route you need a cable with 2 ends like this
    hSVideoConnector.jpg

You can spend a fortune on Svideo cables as they are proper AV cables so don't be shocked to see them for £20 in the likes of currys and comet. I know I can get them cheaper from Scan.co.uk but they are local to me so I just op in pllaces like maplin and RS will sell them as will PC world anywhere that sells PC's or TV's should have the cables but your better with PC shops for the VGA cables. ouch £23 for a VGA cable at DSG, they do have one for £15 but that is still £12 more than Scan.
