Recommendation for a basic printer, please

Options
Please help me. I am using an old printer Lexmark Z32 with new New Dimension 5150. I have download a driver from Lexmark website, the problem is I cannot print pages from the web. I usually get the first line and then nothing. It seems to be printing all right otherwise. I have saved a form in pdf and it did print these OK, but the print seems faded and the cartridge is a full one. I am wondering whether it has anything to do with my usb cable, the old computer used to be connected to the printer via usb 1.1 and this one is usb 2. Any ideas, please, guess it's time to look for another printer, with cheaper cartridges. Thanks

Try going into the Lexmark solution centre on your PC and clean the Nozzles.
  • Chances are its not a USB problem, I tend not to recommend lexmark inkjets to anyone as there cartridge prices are almost as expensive as the printer itself.

If looking for an alternative budget inkjet I would recommend the Epson C46 or equivalent, should cost you around £40 although probably cheaper (thats the price we sell them in the shop.) Search the net for them - however remeber to look at P&P prices. We also see compatible cartridges for them at around £3 per cartridge to give you an idea of cartridge prices.

Some people don't like using compatiblle cartridges but when you have gone through around 4-5 cartridges the printer has already payed for its self, I use compatiblles often in my Epson R300 and haven't had a problem in over a year with heavy use. So printer has already been paid a while ago with the savings of compatible cartridges.

Thanks for this post, the cheapest I have bought is from e-bay at £10 - £12. Will check the Epson, do not mind paying up to £10 for decent cartridges. Thanks again
