Does any one know if the Hitachi PDV313 Portable DVD Player that
argos are selling will play DVD-R / DVD+r.

had a look around and couldn't find a definate yes ... some it plays, some it wont.

I have one - and yes it does .... very nice unit .... Plays virtually anything I put in it .... MP3's Video JPG's etc ....

So I take it you would recommend one.They appear to be a better build

Yes, I got mine "free" (Well by redemption) when I bought my HD-42" plasma about a year ago. Compared with friends units - it's well built and plays everything, I need it for. It also has the ability to switch the output (a/v sockets) to allow input, hence you can attach it to a VCR, Cable box, Games console (if you have the right cables) and use the built in widescreen display to show the output from the external device.

The only small catch would be that it only plays region 2 disks, and I've not been able to find an "unlock hack" for it ....
