London To Paris Charity Cycle Event

On 3rd June 2009, my girlfriend & I will be participating in the London to Paris cycling event, covering 300 miles in 4 days. We are not super fit cyclists so we have started training already to prepare for the event.

The drive and motivation for training for such an event is to help raise money for AVUK a national charity which helps severely and profoundly deaf children to listen and speak. Nowadays, deaf children have access to amazing hearing aids and cochlear implants, but they often do not get the support they need to develop age-appropriate listening and spoken language.

AVUK helps 55 children at any given time to close the language gap with their hearing peers so that they can enter mainstream schools and have an equal start in life.

It also reaches many more families by training professionals in local services. This partnership work is helping to ensure that excellent provision and outcomes are made available locally
