hey guys try the red/green thread.
We're all doing slimming world (kinda), there is lots of support, tips and advice.
Feel free to join in.
I would post a link but am too stoooooopid to work out how!:D
LOL, I am mooching round looking for fellow weight-loosers and am going to have a look at the red/green thread though I'm not sure it is my style (I'm mostly veggie). I just saw your comment rugbymum and thought I'd have a go at talking you through links as they're kind of useful and if you can add smileys you're definately not 'stoooooopid' ( :rotfl:, I liked that!).
Okay, you find yourself the thread you want to link to, then go up to the top of your screen where the address is, looking something like this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1391427
You click on it so it highlights, then right-click and you get a drop-down menu which includes the word 'copy', which you then click on - so your computer holds that info in its memory.
Then you write your reply and of course that means you are writing in a box with smileys down the right side and a tool bar along the top. In the middle of that tool bar is a little blue/green workld symbol with a link of a chain on it. That's your hyperlink. You click on it when you are ready to insert the link, and it brings up a box into which you then out the address you have copied (hit backspace to delete the writing already in the box, then right click on the space and select 'paste'). Then click 'okay' and the computer does the rest for you.
Sounds a lot but that's only 'cos I put all the little bits in.
Wish losing weight was as easy
I'm off to hunt out the threads you've all mentioned, thanks.Miggy

Hi Vikki,
Perhaps we can do it together.....my plan is to get weighed at Boots once a week.....I believe its 50p......and just to eat very carefully and cheaply.. One pound a week doesn't sound very much but its 52 pounds a year......just short of 4 stones. That would do me nicely. I am going to start tomorrow and get weighed the same day every week. Good luck
I'd love to, so post my our progress, tips, help etc on here then?0 -
best piece of advice I can give is to learn to cook, and use the oldstyle savings board.
Also, from a diet perspective watch portion size, drink water before meals, eat slowly without watching the TV,(concentrate on the food) and dont overeat refined carbs (e.g. rice, pasta etc) - i'm not an atkins advocate, but the average british diet contains more carbs than are needed - espeically evening emals (just imho). And my favourite, put set of scales right in fornt of the fridge so that wheneevr you go to the frisge, you have to stand on them
I really wanna learn how to cook, I think In September I am going to take a college course on it.0 -
I'm going to see the nurse at my GP practice for it. I was putting on half a stone a month, in the first month I didn't put anything on. If it wasn't for xmas I'd have lost a bit this month, but she said that'd happen and not to see her this month. I've also tried the calorie counter in the past which I found really good, I just got out of the habit of using it.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

How about weight wins?
You pay £35 to join the London based online company, you set a goal and a time limit to achieve the goal. It's £5 a month after that. You weigh in with your doctor. If you reach goal in the allocated time you get a lovely cheque! I'm on for £400!
How about something like My Heath Coach or My Fitness Coach on a Wii or DS if you have those? or a Wii Fit?Comp wins 2014: £30 Gu Pud Vouchers0 -
I've been thinking about getting a wii fit, as I've got ME I can't exercise much but I've heard that it's good even for people with ME. I just can't afford one though! I'm going to start saving my change, so maybe eventually I'll be able to get one.
Does your doctor mind signing to say you've lost weight? Mine's a bit awkward about doing things like that, I have to pay for letters and things.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
My family joined together to get me a Wii Fit for an xmas pressie

I have hyper-flexibility syndrome and I'm fine on the Wii fit. The board can weigh you, log your progress, you can set goals and build up time to unlock new exercises so it desn't get boring!
It's just a monthly sheet that my nurse initials. I make an appointment with the nurse rather than the doctor.Comp wins 2014: £30 Gu Pud Vouchers0 -
house cleaning can help shed pounds as can dancing, as long as you get your heart rate to speed up a little.
they say losing 1-2lbs a week is ideal as you wont be losing muscle!!! and remember with exercise, muscle weighs more than fat so take measurments of chest tum and hips, may lose inches when not losing the pounds.
