What reason was given for you being on a non cumulative code?0 -

You need to ring your tax office, and ask them why you are on a cumulative code. They are the only ones who can change your code and put you on the correct one. Your employer will only use a code that is sent to them by HMRC, or carry forward the code from your P45.0 -
i rung the one that the employer gave me?? and they said that it was the right one0

If they won't budge, make sure you ask for a tax return after the end of this tax year, you may be entitled to some back!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

HMRC will never tell you that that is the right code without telling you why it is correct.
The fact is that the code you are on is not giving you the full benefit of the personal allowance and the 10% band.
I suggest you ring up again and ask why that is the correct code (because it isn't) and what you need to do to get back on a cumulative code.
You don't want to ask for a tax return though. A refund, yes, but not a return. After the end of the year send in any p45's and p60's you have for the year and ask for the year to be reviewed.0 -

I'm confused. Were you actually talking to your tax office? The only time which a tax office would be 'given' a code is when you have more than one job, and your main tax office instructs the other office to issue a certain code, but i'm sure you said you only have one job.
If that really is what the person on the end of the phone said, then I'm shocked. You should not be fobbed off with an answer like that. I suggest ringing up again, and if the person you speak to doesn't give you a decent answer speak to their manager.0
