JVC Home Cinema System

Hi :)

I have just inherited a surround sound system from my OH's dad. He mentioned that when he got his new plasma TV there was a green/blue band across the top of the screen so he had a fiddle round, couldn't find anything wrong and started panicking it was his new TV. His surround sound system arrived and we ended up with this dodgy old system. Chuffed to have it, it sounds amazing but the screen has a blue tint. The first ten minutes of a dvd will be fine then all of a sudden it goes bluey/green and its really really annoying! I have had a fiddle around with the settings on the tv but our crappy 2nd hand tv won't let me change the colour settings.

I should explain that the surround sound system is connected up to the dvd player so I'm certain its a problem with the dvd player as opposed to the tv.

Any idea what this could be and how I could fix it? My dad is an electrician and has been since he was 16 so should be handy with fixing it if he knows what to do.

thanks xxxxx

  • Chances are there's a dodgy wire on the red output somewhere from the DVD player. Have you tried using the aerial lead to connect it to the TV and viewing it through that to see if it still does it?

No idea without full details of TV., DVD and how they are connected. I've just bought a new DVD surround sound system and the DVD has a switchable scart. One setting gives a blue/green tint to the piucture, the other is perfect.

As davey asks. How is it connected?

  • its via a scart lead. Don't think its anything to do with that because the old dvd player used the exact same lead and that was fine. Its started to go from normal to bluey/green tint more often now, every ten minutes or so.

Is RGB selected through the dvd player?
