Ooops, I've just signed before reading all the thread! Oh well.

My dad's got type 2 and he's never been overweight, in fact he was a lot underweight for a while when he first got it. I'm expecting to get it, not because I'm obese (which I'm working on) but because there's a strong history in my family going back at least three generations.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Ames, don't worry. It's still a step in the right direction, and an amazing outcome. We are attempting now to get their wording right. There may be a link to obesity in some cases of Type 2. It's looks like diabetes UK have a lot to answer for:
following discussions with Diabetes UK, the Department of Health have decided to modify the Change4Life advertising materials to make clear that obesity leads to type 2 diabetes.

What a relief. Hopefully this will undo some of the damage done to our kids. Lets just hope they don't further mess up the wording now for Type 2s.
  • I have been type 1 diabetic for 5 years was dianosed when I was 19.

Im not overweight and have always been active. Im pleased this point has been raised as not all diabetics have brought it on themselves through bad diet and lack of excersize
