Any way to keep my N.C.B ?

Hi, I'm currently working in the Middle East. Before I left I the UK I cancelled my car insurance (was sent Confirmation of No Claims) and sold my car. I'm hoping to stay out here for some time (at least 3 years) but is there any way to keep my n.c.b?
I am still down as a named driver on my girlfriends car in the UK as I will be driving it at times when I come back on leave and someone told me that Directline have a policy where I could keep my n.c.b as a named driver but after looking at the DL site I think they're confused with the bit where it says named drivers will be given their own no claims. Has anyone got any legit ideas if theres any way to keep them?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Borosteve
Probably not much help but ..... you used to be able to keep your ncb for 3 years - not sure if this still applies?
Why not contact you old insurer and check with them?

Simple answer is your no claims bonus last for three years from when you cancel or lapse your police. So obvious thing for you to do is insure another car shortly before the 3 years expires and then cancel it after a couple of weeks (You will pay admin fees for this) but then you get another three years from the date of that cancellation0
