How can I create bookkeeping like Vt Transaction in Excel?

I have recently downloaded a free version of VT Transaction for some book keeping I am doing, however the program is only free for a short time. Can anyone give me any guidance as to how I could try and create a similar setup in Excel. I would like to try and learn about formulas and linking workbooks etc. Vt Transaction seems a great program with lots of options, like creating invoices and totalling figures for set expenses.

You are not comparing Apples with Apples. VT Transaction sounds like a purpose written Book keeping program, whilst Excel, whilst being excellent is a spreadsheet.

You can probably do everything that VT does in Excel, but you will have to create it all yourself. It can be made to have forms and have similified entry, but again you will need to learn how to create these. Maybe there is a Teach-yourself-Excel on the web, or a book on Amazon?
