Duel Fuel cooker connection

Hi

We have had delivered today a Duel Fuel cooker from Comet. We paid for connection but when it turned up the guy refused to install. He states that he will only install the electric oven to a spur. Previously we had Gas cooker and there are no issues with that side.

We have a separate cooker circuit in our Consumer Unit and it runs to what I presumed was a standard cooker switch on the wall. It has a nice red switch with off/on and cooker. Oh and underneath that a simple plug also with its own nice red switch.

However the delivery guy states there should be a wire from there to a box behind the cooker which he will wire to and no more. Comets own connection help box states the following
When you’re buying a new gas cooker, you want keep disruption in the kitchen to a minimum, So with this package, our trained Comet delivery team will deliver and connect your new gas cooker. They’ll do all the fittings and carry out a safety test. They’ll extend the existing pipe work by up to 1m if necessary, and even fit a new electric cable from the cooker to the power point. Then when the job’s done, your new appliance will be fully operational and ready for you to start cooking. Please note wherever possible we will deliver and install your gas cooker in one visit. If not there will either be a separate delivery and installation on same day or the following day.
I called Comet and spoke to someone who didnt really seem to understand what I was asking. Question is, what is connection to power point? and if I need to get a spur installed first, is my landlord responsible for that as we are Housing Association tenants. Currently my nice new shiny cooker is sitting forlornly in the corner of the kitchen.

Thanks

I presume your new cooker uses gas on the top (for pans) and electric to heat the oven? Is that right?

Because the bit you have from the web is for fitting a gas only oven, these also need pluging in (to run fans and the starters).

Yes it does, gas for hobs electric for oven and good point. Quote in my opening post is actually titled "Gas or dual fuel cooker delivery and connection". Therefore applies to the electric oven too.

For "Electric cooking appliance delivery and connection" it states
Once you’ve bought your new electric cooking appliance, you’ll want to be using it as soon as possible. So our delivery teams are fully trained in connection and set-up, and receive regular training on the latest products. This package includes:
    • Delivery in just 2 to 5 days
    • Testing of the electrical supply and relevant safety checks
    • Disconnection and removal of your old appliance (conditions apply)
    • Fitting of the new cooker into the required space
    • Post-installation safety checks
Now I'm even less informed............ Not sure who I should be venting my frustration on tomorrow. At least I've had time to calm down somewhat.

Which will switch the circuit to the terminal outlet box behind the cooker. There should be something like the piccy behind where the cooker goes.

I'm still unclear though as to who is responsible for the terminal outlet box, Comet, Landlord or me? If it's me then does anyone have any idea what sort of cost this is going to be?

Personally I think this should be a lot clearer at the point of sale. Not being an electrician I consider what I already have as a power point.

Personally, I'd agree that you should have the outlet point as pictured by amclusent above. Perhaps its hidden behind a cupboard?
