    FIL's close friend is an architect, so they are going to look at the property tomorrow to see what they think - it doesn't hurt to look does it:rolleyes:

    Council hae rung hubby back and said that a buildings Reg application was submitted in 2004, but couldn't elaborate further due to DPA:confused:

    We shall see what tomorrow holds!!:beer:

    Now, I think that I was told by BR at my local council the same thing about the DPA but that I could write in citing the Freedom of Information Act and that I could have details within 28 days.

    IIRC, It was relating to whether a completion certificate was issued for an extension, rather than looking into the ins and outs of the inspections carried out so it might be different but worth asking again maybe?

    We have been guilty in the past of not obtaining our final sign off for an extension until we were actually selling the house :o Maybe that's the case with yours, they never got the chance.

    I wouldn't bother with all this at this stage. Put in an offer on the basis that there is nothing wrong with the property. If that is accepted, then start asking awkward questions, and dropping the price as necessary. Obviously, start with a lowish price, so hopefully there will be no need to drop further. However, trying to anticipate all the things that may be wrong at this stage seems to me to be counter-productive.
    No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
