Charity That Supplies Computors

Does anyone know of a charity that helps with the cost of a computor ? I have a disabled teenager and a PC would make him become more independent .Some of his disabilities are he is partially sighted and a learning disability yet the equipment that would help him is just far too expensive and I am a tech phobic so have no idea how to even set the speech part of a PC up .. I am aware there are charities but just no idea what they are called or even where to start looking .
Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make

I found this one by using the search engine Google
http://www.cftd.co.uk/cftd.htm
I entered the words charities who provide computers for disabled people. Loads popped up.
I cannot say whether the one that I have listed is any good or not.0 -
You could speak to your County Council.
I'm in Notts, and they have a scheme called 'Fund For Disabled People'.
They have fixed grants for computer equipment, and meet fairly frequently to consider applications.
Your council will always consider working with another trust.
I would recommend the county council as a good starting point.

Also, go to your local library and ask about local educational grants. You might like to Google this as well. I found http://www.educational-grants.org/haberdashers.htm which might be worth further investigation.
Good luck!

My DS (younger than this) was given a laptop. We were given the choice of a desktop or laptop. It's a pretty basic dell computer but perfectly adequate for DS.0 -
I used newlife charity when i was looking for a touch screen laptop for my daughter, They are very helping in finding what software you would need.
http://www.newlifecharity.co.uk/
we also purchased the widget software for her, but you can ask for this though the charity. we also used access though technology, but that was though our local council.
the software website is http://www.widgit.com/.
