Card Shuffle time Again

Been doing the 0% shuffle for over 5 years now - But with the credit crunch etc.. Are the CC companies clamping down on this.

Got £7K to shift from Virgin Money card at the end of January.

Was looking to apply for the Halifax Plus Card (13 months 0% with 3% Fee), but have previously had a Halifax Classic and Halifax One cards on 0%. My last Halifax card was closed over 12 months ago which had a £8k+ credit limit.

Do you think it's risking it, going to the Halifax for a 3rd time and have they reduced their credit limits on what they used to offer?

Never been turned down for a card before and don't want to start now.

Current cards are:

Virgin Credit Card - £7k on 0% until February 2009.
Barclaycard - £0. Just finished 0% rate.
Capital One - £850 left on 3.9% on LOB
HSBC Gold - Use for general spending cleared in full each month

I would think that after 12 months the Halifax would view you as a new customer.

I got refused for 3 cards back in 2007, but mid - late last year got two new ones with healthy credit limits.

Sometimes I think they just do eeney meeney miney mo!!!

Isnt' there another company you've not been with before that you could apply to? As the only way you'll find out about Halifax is to apply.

Well I took the risk and applied for the Halifax Plus card on Sunday - Got acceptance letter through the post today with form to sign and return.

No mention of credit limit as yet, but looks like my application was made just in time. The Halifax Plus credit card has now reduced it's 0% promo period from 13 months to 12 months and it's 0% on spending from 6 months to 3 months. My forms all say 13 months and 6 :T (No, I'm not going to spend on the card)

Also through the post today, I got a promotion letter from my Barclaycard which I cleared last month. Offering 0% until July 2009 with 2.5% handling fee. At least I've got something to fall back on if the Halifax doesn't offer me the full £7K limit I'm after. My Barclaycard has a limit of £11.7K

Still awaiting the card, although I can see the card details on my Halifax Online account (along with old cancelled cards) - Looks like they've given me a £8.5K credit limit.
  • Will you be moving over the £850 from your Capital One card?
  • I have three cards with the halifax and all have a limit in excess of £6000. They keep increasing the limit every six months. I have good deals on all three.
    :oCurrent Debt £38,000:o

No - As the BT fees are 2.5% and I don't think it will be clear within 13 months, its staying where it is.
