How to find a property with a sea view?

Options
Does anyone know of any website which allows you to put in "sea view" or such like when searching for a property to buy? The likes of rightmove don't appear to let you search for specific words.

My partner and I are looking to move - in the next 18-24 months - and this is high up on our agenda as a must have.

Anyone have any ideas?

  • I would hire a boat and take it out to sea. Take a camera with you and while you are out there, take a few pictures of houses you can see from the sea. If you can see the house from the sea, then I'm sure you'll see the sea from the house.

    Hope this helps.;)

Depends where you are looking. In the Westcountry Stags have a Waterside Homes section. I think Webbers also had one too, or it might have been 'Fine & Country Houses' - not quite the same thing. All these tend to be on the pricey side of reasonable though!

Otherwise, it's just a case of knowing your geography. Most adverts come with a map/aerial photo. In fact, we're positively spoiled compared with eight years ago, when I began to use t'Interweb. If you link the map to a real map: ie Ordnance Survey (Multimap) you can pretty well work out views/sunshine factors etc.

Personally, I would never want a sea view because:
    (a) you invariably pay for it
    (b) seaside locations are windy
    (c) as a gardener, I can do without the salt spray (but you get less slugs!)
    (d) holidaymakers

A few miles inland from the sea is my ideal. Mild climate & none of the above downsides.

I had same problem. I just used postcodes and trawled through. I then realised it was all futile as I couldn't afford any of them!

I always find that if a house has a sea view it will say so in the first part of the particulars as it's assumed that this is a major selling point for that property. I want one as well but as Dave says, it can get very windy.
    Where are you looking Kayleigh?

I would suggest looking near the coast.
    Hope this is helpful.

If you use http://www.globrix.com then over on the left under keywords there will be seaview listed. Don't expect it to be comprehensive though, it can only spot what the agents have typed in - and agents are getting very lazy at typing details into house adverts these days.
