    I kept looking and found advanced tickets for the 12th of Feb for £19.50 each way...much cheaper and only one change in Bham new street, I think it's a matter of keeping an eye out.

    This. Go in the middle of the day or the middle of the night when the motorway is quiet. You only need to do it once and you'll be as happy as Larry to do it again and again.
