Fujitsu Seimens Amilo A1630 problem

Options
Hello all

I have Fujitsu Seimens Amilo A1630 and the problem is when I power up the fans start and that's it. No screen and no other lights and no bios beeps.

I have taken out the dvd drive then re booted and no luck and done the same to with the ram, hard drive and cpu and get the same result.

Could it be the mother board?

Could be the backlight or the inverter. If you look closely at the screen can you see anything in the background? Try connecting an external monitor and see if you get anything.
  • Have you tried it without the battery in, clutching at straws..!

Is the fuse in the plug ok?

There are only 2 things left motherboard and screen.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • I bought a new charger thinking it might be that, and I took the battery out as well just incase.

I have now tried it with my monitor and still no luck.

There is a battery recall on some Amilo models, but if it doesn't power up without the battery, it probably the motherboard or processor.

  • Thanks 4 the responses so far.

If it was a CPU fault would the bios beep?

If it's the motherboard how do I find out what one it is?

    Thanks
  • I thought I'd get a price for a new motherboard and I was quoted £300!!!!!

So, I'm really hoping someone can help me.

I have the same machine that had the same problem, luckily it was under warranty, However the problem was intermitent, had to send it back ti FS twice before they changed the motherboard.

    Regards
  • I have stripped the laptop apart and test the capacitors and found 3 to be faulty!!!

Now the search begins into finding replacements......Maplins don't do 'em
