Once your entitlement to SSP has been exhausted you will move onto ESA (the replacement for IB).

Do you have a partner that works? Do you have a mortgage or do you rent?
    Gone ... or have I?

You sound as if you are nearing rock bottom and need a bit of breathing space. I dont know much about the benefit system but i'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along with DMG24 to help. Just didnt want to read and run. Best wishes

Do you have a union rep you can talk to? As you have worked for the NHS for 38 years you might be entitled to a payment from your pension contributions when you go on to nil pay and it might be worth finding out what payout/pension you would get if you (and if it is possible for you to) retire on medical grounds.
Don't give in your notice, even when you go onto nil pay.

In the meantime here is a link to the benefits checker.

You said you are single and suffering from depression, do you have anyone that can help you with the forms? With depression small tasks like filling in a form can feel like climbing a mountain so don't be afraid to ask for help. The CAB are very good with benefits so get in to see them if you can to check out any other financial help you may be entitled to.
A friend or family member may help with a simple form or by going with you to any interviews you have to attend.
Wish you all the best with this.

ESA is only affected by pensions of £85 per week I believe, so you are not likely to be affected.

Payroll should automatically send you all the forms out when your half pay is due to run out - if not give them a bell.
