program from desktop to laptop

i have a program on my desktop pc which i love to have on my laptop i have a usb flash drive to transfer files etc.. but i dont know how to transfer the program i want, is it possible

  • If it's not a single executable then I'd suggest you download it to your USB drive then install it from new on your laptop due to the numerous changes that happen during the install process.

    not sure i understand:o :o

    its already installed on my pc i copied the whole folder from my programs on my pc put on flash drive then tried it on the laptop but it has loads of files not sure what to do or where to start is there not a way of uninstalling without it being completely being removed from pc

    You can't simply copy program folders across, there will be potentially changes to the registry etc. What program is it? You need to "install" the program properly on the laptop unless it is a program that doesn't need installing. If you went through an installation process in the first place on your desktop to get it on then you won't be able to just copy and paste the files.

    Exactly. You can technically see what changes an installation makes but what's the point. You may as well get the program again off the internet if possible or use a CD to install it on the laptop.

    thanks for the replies, no i dont have the originals, it's a karaoke program what someone put on a while back for me, but for some reason my writer is not burning the discs with the graphics anymore:mad: i've even looked for an update for my writer but can't find anything (prob obsolete now:rolleyes: )
    i would love to get the program again (without paying 4 it:rotfl: )

    thanks for that davidmt83 but it only lets u load 5 tracks and 1 min per track i'd already tried that one
