personally, i wouldn't use things as images, when it you could have real text on there... standard background image, and then put text on top, not just have a bgimage with the text embedded...

maybe it is just me, and the way i work..

With regards to the problem in IE - I notice the "display" property is set to "block" in your "li a" settings - have you tried "inline" ?
