exchanging BluRay for a normal DVD

My kids received a Wall-E DVD for Xmas but unfortunately it was bought on Blu-Ray and we dont have a BluRay player. It is still wrapped in the original wrapper but as it was bought from Woolworths we cannot take it back to exchange. Anyone got any ideas on how we can swap it for a normal DVD.

Thanks

You'll just have to sell it on eBay, or Playtrade, something like that.

  • you may be able to play dumb & take it to any other big chain who sell it & they may refund you their lowest recent price
  • I tried Asda but they wont do anything even exchange it for the cheaper normal DVD without a receipt.

If you have a branch of CEX near you they will buy it for around £9, sometimes more if you take store credit.

You cant call them awkward for not accepting to exchange an item that was not purchased from thier store...

I call asda ackward not because of that but because my mother purchased MammaMia before christmas, i told her same day that i had also purchased it for her christmas present so she tried to return it, but had no reciept. They didnt even offer store credit and she shops in there every single day. Thats why they are ackward

It's not Asda's fault that she could not prove that she purchased the DVD from their store, your mother is the awkward one for not keeping the receipt.

Thats why they are ackward, we ended returning that dvd to HMV where they gave us store credit (not sure if its legal or not but im sure plenty do it and it was sealed so they could still sell it on).

HMV will not offer a thing if they know that the DVD didn't come from their shop. And it depends on the manager there whether or not they will accept it without any HMV stickers on, etc.

    I used to work there.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
