Barclaycard not replying to questions

Barclaycard have allowed criminals to change the address and date of birth on my account, and have also sent them six months worth of my statements. I am very worried that this information may be used to steal my identity. Such was my worry, that I have taken out identity theft insurance at a cost of £120 (with Barclays).
To understand how this happened, and to ensure that it won't happen again, I have asked Barclaycard what security measures are in place, and whether these measures were followed. I additionally requested that Barclaycard should pay the £120 insurance premium, as it was their fault that I needed it.
I received no reply to my letter, and ended up taking the 'official' complaints route. Since then, despite a promise to clear up problems within 28 days, Barclaycard have sent me two letters, each saying they will reply in one months time. Finally, 3 months after my initial complaint I received a letter saying that they were 'delighted' that the matter had been resolved, and that no more communication can take place on the matter. They added that if I was dissatisfied, then I should take up the matter with the ombudsman if I was unhappy.
I am very annoyed that Barclaycard have completely ignored my communications, and have fobbed me off with delaying tactics.
Is there anything I can do to get a response?

Hang on, just to take a step back - how do you know that criminals have changed all your details? After all, standard practice would require a great deal of paperwork to change those details, particularly a Date of Birth which is very non-standard! Are you sure they didn't just send you a letter meant for someone else?
Anyway, assuming there is a real problem, you now just need to refer to the Ombudsman as described in the letter - it is their job to review Barlcays and force them to take appropriate action. You are normally barred from contacting them until you've exhausted the Barclays process, which thankfully you have now done

Thanks for the reply.
I first knew that my address had been changed when Barclaycard rang me at work to ask why I wasn't paying my bills. I told them I had a zero balance as far as I was concerned, and it all moved on from then...
I had one hell of a job convincing them who I really was, as they'd also changed my date of birth. I had to go into a local Barclay's Bank with photo-ID to prove who I was! I don't understand why they have the facility for changing client's dates of birth in the first place!
Anyway, as I said, got absolutely no help at all from Barclaycard, so I'll pursue the Ombudsman route.0 -
I have been having problems with Barclaycard too. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am unemployed and with the credit crunch finding it difficult to find another job, any job! I have written them two letters since the start of december to tell them about my new number as they were ringing my old number (my little sisters now!) and to ask them only to communicate with me via letters and then to delete all numbers off their system after being harrassed by them. I know they have received my letters because they are ringing my number but they have completely ignored them and I am now looking into making an official complaint as this is affecting me as I have a history of stress related illnesses and am worried this will turn into depression over all of this.
Not much use to you I know but if we spread the message then hopefully people will stop getting barclaycards and they will improve their, well, everything!!

I hate Barclaycard with a vengeance. None of the above surprises me one bit, best you can do it get as heavy as possible with them (which you are doing with the ombudsman) and then just leave well alone.
I know its infuriating but stick with it and get your own back on them!!0
