Just got on to sale page and it says mugs £9.00 each (!!) reduced to..........£9.00 each!! wot a sale eh??
In retail speak that means that these have been specially purchased for the sale. They can't legally advertise them as having been a higher price as they've never been on sale at the higher price.
However, outside the sale these would normally cost you a higher price which is why they're sale items.
It's the same as if you go into other retailers and some tickets say 'Reduced for Clearance' (these items will previously have been on sale at a higher price), and others will say 'Special Purchase' (items bought from suppliers on special terms due to the sale).0 -
