SMA Gold Powder Smells foul - is this right?

Hi all,

I have been using the 250ml ready mixed formula for 2 weeks now and today i bought the powder to save money. I have mixed up 4 scoops in 4oz as stated but the smell of the stuff is horrendous. The ready mixed smells much better but this is just chemically. Is this normal?

I used SMA gold for my 1st and the powder did smell different to the cartons. Are you making it with warm water or cold and then warming it? I found that baby milk powder smells worse when its warm.

I don't use SMA I use C&G and that also smells vile.

Most baby formulas contain some form of fish oil powder as the source of Omega-3 and Omega-6. That's what produces the stink.

We've tried SMA, Aptamil and C&G over the last 8 months and I found SMA Gold was the smelliest of the lot.

got to agree, thay all stink in powder form,but not in carton form.

it sounds normal to me i used sma for hungry baby and it honked

i used for both of mine, and hungry baby and progress, and the made up stuff does smell different to cartons, but babies didn't seem to know the diff and drank the same, as long as in date and made up ok then don't worry!!

the cow and gate formula stinks, thought it was me to start with having a cold but it definately does stink!!

I was going to cross-feed with my 1st, but after making up just 1 bottle and smelling it, I changed my mind! I couldn't bear to shove it in the baby's mouth, and stuck with b/f until he was 18 months! It does smell vile I agree!
