yes any guests stayin at camber sands can go on the free day trip to calais, as we stayed there 2 years ago, and was going to go on it, but the wife forgot to pack the passports:rolleyes:, Dave
Didnt know that. We went there a few years ago (cant remember when but could have been 4 or 5 years ago) and they didnt have that offer then.
Is there any other sites that offer free trips to France?

We've been to Rockley Park, Dorset wth Sun Holidays for last 3 years, Its a really nice Haven Site. the Beach on the site isn't that great, but its only a few minutes drive to Sand Banks. Wish we were going this year only OH wanted to go to Cornwall for a change.0

I haven't booked my holiday yet. I thought about going to Rockley Park, but I read that it's right next to a railway line with trains to London and an army base (with shooting etc). That really put me off. Is that true or are people exagerating? Thanks0 -
I booked by mistake last year (without checking reviews  ). I went prepared with lots of bleach, cleaning gear, an airbed incase the sofa bed was horrid, sheets, my own duvets (even though I had already paid for linen). In the end I didnt need it as the place exceeded my expectations (which were really really low) and was clean enough.karenhumphries wrote: »Anyone been here recently, ie. last year? I've booked my Sun holiday and wondered whether you are able to upgrade accommodation reasonably or if it's not worth it and stick with the budget accommodation. I'm taking sleeping bags, etc to keep costs down! Thanks for any replies.:T
We had a fantastic time - the bluecoats were great. A marriott it is not but you can have a good time. I couldnt be bothered upgrading for what they offered - and only the really expensive units looked any good not the next couple of levels up so I would do basic again next time (as I would go back if the price were right...)
The beach is one of the best I have seen in this country, there are some decent enough eating places just outside the camp (you really dont want to be eating in the restaurants on-site from what I can see), and there is a convenience store just outside, opposite the campsite store. We ate in on the first night as I took some nice M&S ready meals, beans on toast for lunch another day and ate out the rest of the time. There was a brazilian barbeque place that did great rice, as well as a non-weatherspoons/large chain pub that did sunday lunch.
We might have got lucky with the apartment as I have read horror stories - but it is possible to have a good time there (just adjust your expectations).
My son wanted to come back for at least a week next time.0 -

Thanks for that. I'm going with low expectations - taking our own sleeping bags/duvets, etc. - We are local to the area (about 30 miles away) but never been to a Pontins - we usually go to Haven, but I wanted to stay in a chalet rather than a caravan. Most review sites have scores of either 1/10 or 8/10 for this Pontins site so I suppose it is luck of the draw. I've been camping in a tent for the past two summer holidays anyway, so hopefully the accommodation won't worry me too much! The break is mostly for the kids so as long as they are happy, I'm happy!
