Cheers for the help YorkshireBoy, ill try with Alliance and Leicester again tomorrow if declined again ill do as suggested pay minimum on all cards then pay extra on the one with the highest APR. Hopefully in 6 months ill be able to apply again and bounce to a 0%.

    Thanks again

Just thinking about this further, maybe applying again (so soon?) for the same card wouldn't be a good move?

Your call, but there are plenty of other MBNA run cards. See here...

    www.stoozing.com/cards.htm

    You can sort this table...

    www.stoozing.com/0fees.php

...by length of intro period (just click the column headers labelled "0%"). You'll see that MBNA themselves have a 14 month 0% BT card (A&L is only 12 months).

    Good luck!
  • This is a really silly question, but here goes...

Have you considered asking capital one if they will do a 0% offer for you, seeing as the credit limit you have with them is relatively high? I have a Cap1 card and they write to me every so often offering introductory rates. This wouldn't involve new applications, etc so shouldn't affect your credit file.

    Hi clearing_out_my_pockets,

Thanks for your input. I did originally ask Cap1 if they could offer me 0% on balance transfers. They advised they could not and best they could do was offer me 14.9% annually, 1.24% interest per month on outstanding balance. No harm in asking again!

I have tried A&L again and they will not be able to offer me the money transfer of 6K so it looks like ill be paying of my virgin card with interest as fast as possible.

    Cheers

    Application denied?
    Insufficient credit limit?
    Or some other reason?

Hi YorkshireBoy...... Been away working sorry for delayed response.
I was denied a credit card with A&L due to me already having a virgin card. Again the person I was talking to says that my credit file is fine and can see no reason why I would have been declined elsewhere, however obviously he could not comment.

So is my only option now just to keep paying the minimum payment on Virgin throwing all extra cash I have at it to get the next interest payment down? Keep doing this for as long as I can. So far this year I have applied for 3 credit cards (i think) and been declined.

    To recap I have:

    LTSB: -£1840.00 Limit £2000.00
    Capital One: -£400.00 Limit £11,200
    Virgin: -£6,000 Limit: £11,000
    HSBC: £0.00 Limit £7,000

    Cheers for all your advice!

Just a quick update on this one. Just got a letter through door from HSBC stating that they are doing an offer 0% for 9 months. I have completed a balance transfer to HSBC and now do not have a Virgin Credit card anymore!!!! Phew...... £120 per month interest was a right bummer, glad thats gone!

    Thanks for the advice guys....
    Cheer
