hi all just thinking of going to the above for a week in mid February. I've stayed in Benalmadena marina and nerja before. anybody any recommendations - I've been looking atthe the usual accommodation only websites and calahonda and estepona keep coming up but I don't know anything about them. Also a lot of complexes seem to be on golf-courses which I imagine might be a bit 'self-contained' and remote from anywhere Spanish!!.I fancied just getting a taxi or bus from the airport to wherever we end up staying and maybe just hire a car for a couple of days so can anyone recommend anywhere not too far from the airport. we'd want self-catering preferably within walking distance of some nice restaurants and we have 2 kids aged 13 and 9 but they're quite happy with a play area in a park. thanks for any advice.

in my opinion stay up at Nerja, benemadena end. We stayed at Estepona and there is not a lot there at all, it rained 4 days on the trot and felt the other end of the costa was best, albeit we wouldnt return. Mijas is nice. Pay the extra and stay somewhere nice, especially if the weather is gonna be miserable.0

Nerja is definitely the better choice, there will be plenty of accommodation available in Nerja in Feburary.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

We have stayed in Torre del Mar in the past, nearer to Malaga than Nerja. It's a mix of working town and resort. There's a lovely long promenade to stroll along and miles of beach. Not many hotels there (we stayed at the Proamar and can recommend) but I have seen lots of apartments for rent on the usual booking sites. I think it's a good base for touring that side of Malaga."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

thanks for your replies so far. We'd kind of discounted Nerja on this trip only because when we stayed there before we loved it but felt it was a bit 'cut off' from other places as opposed to Benalmadena where you could go to various places nearby by bus if wanted. by the way I've just booked our flights which were £20 return with Ryanair from East Midlands Tues 17 to Tues 24 Feb (so the kids will have to miss 2 days school when we return) which I think is great. I know February is probably dodgy weather-wise but I'm looking forward to doing a bit of sight-seeing which is impossible in the heat of the summer. I think I'm going to go for Benalmadena or maybe Marbella but some of the flats in Benalmadena costa and pueblo I don't know where they are - are they a bit cut-off?0
