Sorry IF (???) this is the wrong thread!
How about 'Sorry THAT this is the wrong thread'?
What on earth has this got to do with 'Quick - grabbit while you can'?
Answer .. absolutely nothing.
Please stop wasting the time of MSE'ers who come on here looking for a genuine bargain!

I can't see how the above is rude.
If you have to start a 'Sorry if' than there must be part of you that knows it is the wrong place. Yes, it can be moved but surely it is better to post it in the right place. I can understand newbies getting it wrong but there seems to be more threads that are not a grabbit. I think some people (not all) cannot be bother to find the right place or perhaps they think they will get more help if they post on one of the more popular boards.
It does waste the time of people looking for bargain. If the line of thinking is 'it can be moved', should we all just post where we like and wait for it to be moved to the right place? I don't agree with people when they are sarcastic but I don't see why if someone points out that a thread is in the wrong place they are suddenly rude.0 -
In all honesty I think the title of the topic made it clear it was not a grabbit so it is hardly wasting anyones time!
In fairness it is very hard at times for people to know where to post things!0 -
You forget broclo that some people, myself included, subscribe to feeds for every new thread... so our inboxes (sometimes at a cost to us in terms of mobile data allowance) get spammed/wasted
If you have an inkling you might be posting in the wrong place, it's sheer laziness if you don't make a concerted effort to find a better fit for it.
The 'the mods'll move it' argument also doesn't work here - there are no mods, just volunteer guides that have day jobs.
In the case of grabbit, it is very clear indeed that this is not for this type of post - as there is a sticky at the top of the board that tells everyone what it is for!The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

1) This is somebody that has already apologised
2) The addition of the (???) and the exclamation marks give the impression that this is somebody typing in great anger. No need for anger or agitation, it's no big deal really. Putting it as I did in the next post makes the point, but without being too nasty about it.Thanks to all who post constructively.

sorry if this is the wrong thread, but can any one who works for morrisons tell me what the yearly spend allowance is on your discount card.
my wife used hers the other day and was told it was over limit.her boss says its £650 a year but i thought it is £6500 a year.
thank you
You are both right, the most you can spend using your discount card in a calendar year is £6500, which at 0% gives you a discount of £650, HTH DaveTake every day as it comes!!0 -

Surely though feeds do not require you to read a whole thread which has been posted and to have to waste your precious time on replying that something is in the wrong place, has been posted elsewhere etc?
Some people find the constant "Your posting in the wrong place" replies just as tiresome as the posts themselves...although admittedly the "use the search button" and sarcy comments are alot worse.0 -
Bloody hell! The guy posted in the wrong thread! Disaster!
If that's the worst thing that will happen in your life this week, i'd say you'd have had a pretty good week and people need to get over themselves.
Glad you got your answer Jonathan and well done to those who helped him out.0 -

I was generalising. I agree that the title on this thread is clear but many are not. I just think that there is an increase of threads that should not be on the grabit. People make mistakes, myself included. If I posted a thread that was in the wrong place I would appreciate being told. It can be difficult to know the most appropriate place.
Some are genuine mistakes and others are just because some people do not care. The purpose of this and my earlier post was not to suggest that the OP was one of the latter but to question why anyone that raises the issue of a thread being posted in the wrong place seems to be branded as a trouble maker or rude (some are, not all). Obviously some people do it just to start an argument but not all. I guess that most people prefer the nambly pambly lets not say anything on the off chance we might offend someone. As I said before I do not agree with sarcasm but surely there is nothing wrong with pointing out that a thread is in the wrong place.
Roger_Rampant, personally I think that apologising makes it worse. If the OP was genuinely unsure, fine we all make mistakes. I would have thought that there would be no question that the thread does not relate to a short term bargain. Most of the time, not all an apology is used because the poster thinks that perhaps it will not seem as bad if they put that.
At the end of the day posting in the wrong place is not the crime of the century but a few people posting that threads are in no way related to a grabbit is not either.0 -
