                    Howdi,
I have a bit on a no Claims Discount dilema. I am just buying a new car and conveniently its just as my first years car insurance is running out, so i have one years no claims on my current policy.
However,
Prior to this I had three years no claims discount for bikes.
Now, would i still be able to use my bikes no claims disount? I have a letter from my previous bike insurer, which is only 11 months old, stating that i had three years no claims with them. (I know some insurance providers are happy to accpet bike no claims on cars, as i was previously going to use it, but them found out that the particular insurance company didnt offer a policy that covered inexpereinced drivers with alloy wheels) Anyway, as i am no longer an inexpereinced car driver, and have no alloys on the new car, i thought it might worth a thought about trying to use my old no claims disount. I am now almost 26, and have had my car licence for over a year.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Vikki

It depends who the insurer is. Some will allow bike bonus on a car policy, some won't. Some will allow you to combine the two, some won't. Some might offer you a better price/cover based on one year than four.
If you can use the four years together then I suggest you ask whether or not it will automatically become no claims you'll be able to transfer and/or protect, in its entirety, in the future.
In summary: ask the insurers.0 -
thanks for that. You know sometimes in life you feel like you might be asking a stupid question, but i just wasnt sure if that now i have been using the car for a year, that anyone might question why I am using three years bike no claims and not one years car, and also if it would be possible to put two different no claims bonuses together. But like you say, the best thing to do is phone up and ask.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

I am hoping to use Direct Line as I already know they will accept my bike no claims (3 years) but will i be shooting myself in the foot if i tell them that I have a seperate 1 year car no claims as well? I would ideally like to ask them if they would be happy to combine the two, but I am worried that they would tell me I could only use my most current No Claims, if i start asking to many questions. Which is obvioulsy bad, as three years no claims would be better for me to use.
Any help would be most appreciated. (seems as any cash back potential is seriously hampered by the fact that i have to get my quotes authorised on the phone any way, due to having only had driving licence for a year and having 4 years no claims!)
