National Landlords Association

Are any landlords here members of the NLA (https://www.landlords.org.uk)? Is it worthwhile?

Do any tenants here factor in membership of such organisations when choosing which landlord to rent from?

I like the idea, especially the code of practice, but I'm wary of throwing £88 a year down the drain.

  • Like the RAC, Union subs or home insurance, you only get VFM if you need them. I might join so thanks for the reminder.

    The link is www.landlords.org.uk

I hope so...I certainly do point out to my tenants that I am a member, give them a copy of the code of practice, & let them know that they do have an avenue through which they are able to make a complaint about me ;)

It's only £88 for the first year. £70 thereafter, or even less if you pay several years upfront. It's tax deductable, & the free helpline is wonderful. The emails are useful, the forum is still in it's infancy, I try to go to the meetings whenever possible, & there are lots of useful forms available, including agreements, to download on the website. Then there are member offers, such as cheaper referencing, advertising etc.

I joined for 5 years and got a hefty discount, they also offer discounts when you use their sister compnay for the tenant's deposit scheme (which I do). The fees are of course tax deductable making them even cheaper in real terms.
