You sound just like us! Been together 5 years living together for two and half and OH had no pets because he was working long hours and often projects would take him abroad.

Now we have accquired two dogs four cats two lizards and occasionaly foster for animal charities. I do fee guilty as the house is nowhere near as immaculate as it was when he lived alone  but he swears his happier than he has ever been.....honest!:rotfl:

Winstons a handsome chap, hope hes settling in well.
Most of the 4 legged pets in our house are rescued, we have 2 dogs and 2 cats (did have 3 cats but one is currently awol  ) The only furry pet we havent rescued is one of the dogs, we didnt want to risk rescuing one incase our resident dog didnt take to another adult dog being brought into the home, but as it happened, hes so placid he would allow anything to come through the doors as long as he could still have the most comfortable seat in the house (usually where ever I'm sitting :rotfl: ) We also have 6 snakes, 2 lizzards, 2 frogs and 2 coldwater fishtanks  I couldnt possibly take in any more, but the OH has suggested fostering. One of the receptionists at our vets runs a cat rescue and we've said we will help out, but I'm reluctant to commit as my family wouldnt be able to let the animals go, I would be worried about getting too attached to them.
There will always be a place in my home for a rescued pet, this might sound callous but I do say, if anything was to happen to any of the pets, I will replace them more or less straight away, not that I dont love them, I do, and my rescued weimaraner is my favourite, he will be so hard to replace as hes such a special dog, but my house wouldnt be a home if it wasnt for the kids and pets running around, and rescuing is definitely better than buying pups/kittens from petshops or breeders.

Its the other way round in our house, I love animals, always have, OH was never allowed pets as a kid, so hes the one that now wants to fill the house with all the pets we have, I've had to put my foot down and say no more, but he knows if he brought another pet home it wouldnt get turned away, even though the house is bursting at the seams :rotfl:
