thanks very much for that, i've since been looking at rockdoor.com and reading various sites to research a bit more. other than build quality, security seems to be a main feature, and i've seen things about security testing and british standards pas23 and pas24, which seem to be the benchmark - though rockdoors don't have those..? Is there any advice you can give about what to look for in security features?

    Accreditations

Rockdoor is a unique, top quality product that has been awarded the following accreditations:
BS PAS 24-1 – independently tested and passed enhanced security performance requirements for door assemblies
BS PAS 23-1 – independently tested and passed general performance requirements for door assembly
BS DD 171 & GG 6.6.2 – independently tested and passed British Standards for doorsets.
this is on the website but not where any right minded person would find it believe it or not its in customer service then accreditations .any right minded person would look in security or locks or at least i would:rolleyes:
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction

Thanks! Yeh that's odd where they've placed the British Standards stuff, I was looking around the security section where you'd expect it to be! Well thanks for pointing me in the right direction, i was starting to think Rockdoor wasn't an option. I'll look at their range again. I'm really considering windows at the same time as well, because that's really become a serious issue now (latest gas bill was through the roof!). I'll look at the options out there. Thanks for your help!

Some composite doors are better than upvc doors but be wary because a lot of cheaper doors are made from slabs imported from china and some are just a plastic skin glued to a timber core .we use rockdoors considering them the best, there are cheaper but for the saving of £50 -100 we would rather stick with rockdoor who have been producing composite doors for some 14 years now and whos parent company gap have been trading 17 .you pays your money and takes your choice .and yes im sure it will work out cheaper having the door done with your windows

Well I have taken my time with this as there's a lot of options out there to choose from and i have been looking at Rockdoor as you say, it looks like a great option for composite doors. However I've since decided I'd better stick with my original plan to get my windows and doors done at the same time, so I've been looking at safestyle for both composite doors and energy saving windows, as my bills are getting ridiculous - what do you think? there offer at the moment looks good

    Ken,

Please please call a couple of local companies to give you a quote before you see Safestyle, im really bitting my tongue here as i dont want to start pointing fingers and telling tales about the national companies but have a look around this forum & read for yourself.

A6 is 100% spot on Rockdoors are a fantastic door with a real eye on the security aspect, if you go to there site there is a form you can fill in & they will pass it on to someone they know who will also be able to do the windows in your area.
