Cheshire BS

Been in to my local Cheshire BS to transfer one Cheshire ISA to the 4.5% Fixed Rate one , was told that all rates including ISA and Fixed Rate Bonds will be reduced on Monday 5 January, also told that applications received before 5 PM at Head Office or branch will be honoured at the current rate, any received after will not.

I have 8200 I want to put away for 2 years at 4.75%, but it does not come available until 11th January. Shall I get the cheque to them by 5th, Monday and hope it does not clear until after Saturday 10th?

It they try and take it out before 10th January I'll br fined something like £60. What do you think my chances are?

Not good. Don't know what penalty you will be hit with, but expect it to be big.

I was told first class by them. The post office must have assumed this too as a -36p appeared on the registered post receipt.

When I had to sent ID to them (I failed electronic ID for some reason) I sent that by Special Delivery and they returned it by recorded.

I posted application forms to transfer in my Nationwide Cash ISA (now paying a very poor 1.5%) into a Cheshire fixed rate ISA a few days ago.
Although the forms should arrive before 5th January, I am not sure if the 4.5% rate will be honoured.
Any idea what the transfer-in rules are?

Rate will be honoured if your application arrives by that date. Are you transferring at the same time? Why not phone them? They are there until 4pm today.
