Might be early days for the Duplo, but you never know you could have a mini Einstein ;) .

I didn't use terry nappies but 12 doesn't sound a lot. I know I was doing at least 6-8 nappy changes per day in the early days when they just seem to do lots of pooing (yuck) so maybe invest in some more. Someone who's used terries might have a better idea.

Well done for not giving in to the disposables, wish I'd done the same now.

definitely, in the first couple of weeks my baby had around 9 changes a day - eeek! i had 14 washable nappies but i used disposables until he was around ten days old.

i love sleeping bags, another vote from me :-)

i've used my sister's travel system. the car seat lasts until approx 9 months but my 5 month old is already too big for it and at 25 weeks old he's now reached the weight limit too so it's unsafe to use in the car. we have another car seat/carrier that lasts to 15 months and he's okay in that for the moment but in hindsight i would have bought a birth to 4 car seat instead, we'll have to buy it anyway because he'll be too young for the stage 1 seats but too heavy for stage 0.

i bought a bath sponge from tesco but he prefers a support in a more upright position. i bought a tigex baby bath seat (there are some on ebay) and he loves it. it's plastic and suitable to around 6 months. the sponge was good when he was newborn because it's not made of plastic but my baby had reflux and hated lying back, it made him vomit so the tigex one suited us better.

Sign up for all the freebie sites you can find, esp. pampers, huggies, totts botts, nature botts etc. I got enough free sample nappies/coupons to keep Spud in Disposables until he was 5 weeks old plus some larger size samples for when he is older. I started using shaped terries when he was 5 weeks, bought 20 and was using around 6-8 a day plus a disposable overnight, I found they didn't hold a lot of water but the all-in-one washables hold tons more & need changing more on par with a disposable (around 5 times a day) but are a more expensive outlay & are a total minefield of choices for the uninitated!

Must admit I stopped using washables for 2 months when Spud started waking up every 2 hours in the night, I was too exhausted to keep on top of things but am just back to using them now he's only waking up once in the night (again....when will he revert to sleeping through??) Not a problem if you are awake enough through the day to rememebr to wash them!

I got a travel system, an ex-display model off of ebay, must admit the number of times I've used the car seat on the pushchair I could count on one hand as I won't let Spud sit in it for more than 2 hours max, I find he is much more relaxed in the pushchair. And he is almost out of the car seat already, no where near 9 months old but far too long for it!

However, he loves the bath sponge, if you don't want one of these babies r us do a little terry towling support chair which is good from newborn for the same price as the sponge I think? Whatever, there are tons more options than the old fashioned baby baths. Or just go in the shower or bath yourself/dad holding baby, saves on all equipment & you get great bonding time:D

if you're using washable nappies can i recommend washable fleece liners? i bought a roll of flushable liners but the fleece ones are so much nicer - baby actually feels dry even when the nappy is wet. you could make your own, i bought mine from ebay. i got one with a handmade nappy but it was rectangular, i much prefer the ones that are cut in an hourglass shape. they come in all colours and patterns and i think i paid £3.80 for ten liners. mine are quite dark with a lovely frog pattern, they don't show up stains lol!
