Hi people
I've attempted to reduce the size of a file containing music (WMA files). Presently it's 40mb which is way too big to email and after using Winzip it wasn't able to reduce it in size.
Is it possible with WMA files or I'm I missing a trick?
Cheers

you could convert the wma file to a Ogg Vorbis file (.Ogg) or M4A file i believe they offer the highest compression rates.Wales will be disregarded until given a place in "its a small world"0

another idea would be to reduice the quality of the file, they would reduce the file size but also reduce the overall sound quality.Wales will be disregarded until given a place in "its a small world"0

Winzip allows you to split zips into multiple files. You can tell it what size (e.g. 5MB) and it will make 8 x 5MB files. You can email them each seperatly and they can be unzipped at the other end to make 1 complete file.0

Zipping them won't make any difference as they'll already been compressed in the WMA format.
The multiple zip suggestion is one idea. It's still a lot to send over email though.
You could get some free webspace and upload a zip (to keep them in one file) of all the music. Or there are services (I forget) that can send large files for you. Also, your ISP may give you some free webspace as part of the package, if they do you could put them there.
It does pose legality issues though if sending copyrighted music to someone else."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Thanks for all that info. That'll keep me busy for the rest of the afternoon...thanks.0
