    I had exactly the same.... lost all my movies grrr.... tried opening the thing, but just had a horrible rattle... guess the needle had gone somewhere it shouldn't have... :mad:

    Good excuse to buy a newer bigger one :p

  • Oh great i have just brought one after every one has been telling me W.D is the dogs whotsits of hard drives, i should have got a pc world cheapy and had twice the memory for the same price.

    trumpet - Western Digital hardware is the daddy of hard drives. That was the reason i got one, it is just that a stupid power cut killed mine.

    You're prob covered under WD's warranty... worth givin that a go, I mean u wont get your data back but may get a new HD out of it...

    Its a good 18 - 24 months old now. Plus im thinking of ditching the whole computer and getting one of Dell's computers.
