My 9 month old has recently started to wake up more in the night for milk roughly every 2 hours! he still does not take lumpy foods as he spits it back out, he has about 8 teeth now so should be able to chew and have tried finger foods in which he will take tiny drops then spits it back up.
He has his tea about 4.30 - 5pm as we have to stick to this as my eldest has diabetes.
I am starting to give him something just before his bed roughly 6 - 6.30pm.
I gave him ready brek last night but most of it went on his bib any suggestion as to what else i can give him to last him through the night?

Hi, could he be waking out of habit or teething? Do you give him milk every time he wakes? I would be tempted to give water to try and break the habit if it is one.
I would persevere and try and give more solid solids throughout the day too, if you look at the jars of food to get an idea of what he 'should' be eating in terms of texture. Well cooked macoroni should be ok with a sauce, potatoes, veggies, tuna, cheese are all quite soft.
Hope this helps a bit!

Anything starchy is good (pasta, potatoes ect) my 9mth old has started waking up again because of his teeth coming through, but we normally just give him a rush to munch on, he will just happily sit in his highchair rusk in hand and simpsons on TV (his fave program) then followed with a cup of juiceWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

yep weetabix is great!
or rusk and milk (in dish)to begin with, mine both loved that and it helped fill them up!0 -
Sweet Potato is incredibly yummy, it is also low GI (in grown up terms) which means it is slow releasing helping you stay fuller for longer, so that might work if you give it to him for his evening meal.
If he is on formula, have you tried the hungry baby variety. I moved on to it and it did work.
Failing that, I was very mean and left him to cry it out. They do get very clever at this age knowing they can get you up if they wrap you round their little finger.
Feed him well in the day and give him the milk just before bed, and that should be sufficient. It might just be a crying it out situation. Try letting the first wake up time be cried out and then feed or get up to him on the next one, and very slowly increase each waking session to a cry yourself to sleep session and the wake ups should decrease.
In terms of lumpy food, don't worry, he is still young and some don't like lumpy foods until they are 12 months! Give him the foods he loves and very slowly increase the lumps. Raisins are always good food to get them used to lumps, even if they do spit them out to start with, baby rice cakes are also good. Believe it or not Annabel Karmel's Liver Casserole was his favourite around this time (I can't remember the age group in her book, so do double check, but I am sure it is around this stage)

i remember this happening with my darling son ...... .. dont worry it doesnt last !!! teething and the introduction of solids wops them all out of sinc ! we used to just make up a quick bowl of cereal so rusk, or weetabix as already suggested. My son also loved just sucking on some toast, and loved having a bit of toasted crust on his little gums as already suggested. its amazing how much they do actually eat, when you see the mess left on the bib, high chair etc !!!!
Annabel karmel does some fab suggestions for finger foods, (liver casserole however .....lol !!!! ) Id stick with a book that suggests some little recipes for now, it sounds like you already have a good routine going there !
good luck.

Mine loved Weetabix too, but it was always in one end and out the other in record time, so go easy on it!Signature removed for peace of mind0
