C Drive Full, can I use my PC's 80Gb D Drive ?

Simple question for those of you in the know !
I have filled up my Medion PC's 90Gb C Drive with music and photos. Can I use the PC's 80Gb D Drive for photos and music ? The D Drive is nominated as the "Backup" drive, but I back up externally to DVD or my laptop,
So is it OK to create another "My Documents" style folder on the D Drive, and get saving on that ?
Thanks in anticipation !

You dont need to specifically call it MY DOCUMENTS
call a folder whatever you like and drag and drop files into it.
But yeah its fine, use D drive however you wish.:idea:0 -
is the d drive not the protected drive with the re-install partition and data ??Ex forum ambassador

weird setup
What size is that one?
How much is USED in D and E?:idea:0 -
Be careful. It is possible that there's only one drive with 3 partitions and if you get to the point of filling it all there'll be no room for maybe moving files around when using the recovery if needed.0

C Drive
Total = 95Gb
Free = 8Gb
D Drive (Backup)
Total = 85Gb
Free = 81Gb
E Drive (Recover)
Total = 10 Gb
Free = 6Gb
Hence the D Drive is looking tempting as an extension of the C Drive....0 -
Sounds like all one drive with has partitions... Something like that as that is normal on a bought main manufactured PC... One hard drive, two or three partitions....
You should be ok to use the "D" drive, but do not touch the "E" drive as that has all your recovery stuff on.... IS your "D" a suplicate of your "C" drive? Or is it just free? You can rename your drives anyway and chage it away from being called back-up...0 -
If it were me I'd store all the photos / other personal files on the D drive, or any other drive rather than C for two reasons:
1. It's common for manufacturer's recovery disks to wipe and recreate the C: partition when you want to start over with your HDD. If your photos were on your D drive they'd remain there untouched (normally)
2. A lot of changing files will defragment the OS and result in a slower overall experience of using your computer.0 -
Your C drive should only have programs on it, data - like photos & music - should always be stored elsewhere.0
