Computer suddenly rejecting colour ink cartridge

Got a cartridge refill at Cartridge world, My printer is the Canon IP1600, I emphasized that I wanted my originals filling, which I watched them do. It has been working no problem however tonight it said "Some of the ink cartridges are not compatible with this printer" And then says "Colour".
Is there anything can be done?

Do the cartridges have chips? One possibility is that the contacts may be dirty (you are supposed to avoid touching them) and not making reliable contact. If that's the problem it shouldn't be difficlut to clean and re-seat them.0

Clean them how?
Oh, and I have just done a bit of research and sometimes the printer can reject cartridges if they are compatibles, but these arent they are my originals refilled, I know this as I watched him do it. Anyway, the page I found said that I had to disable the "Status monitor" I have done this and it didn't work.
Really need to get it working, and it has worked, I just dont understandLive for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0 -
A bit late to say this, but if you turn off status monitoring, Canon will no longer honour the warranty for head failure, IIRC.
If the carts have chips (my Canon originals do on a MP610) they will be on one of the lower corners, and will look like a tiny circuit board with 5 (IIRC) contacts on it. Clean the contacts with meths and replace the cart.0 -
Don't have any meths, HumphhhhhLive for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

It's out of warranty, and it can be easily turned back on ;-)Live for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0

Crafty Canon thought of that - the printer remembers if it's ever been switched off. But as you say, why would you care?
You don't really need meths - just a clean tissue should remove any finger grease if that's all that's on it...0
