Thanks again for your replies folks! Things would be much easier regarding houseworkif I was to take my day off every week, but this would lose us over £60 a week. Think the new routine will work over time, if we all stick to our jobs. As I ay, the house isn't dirty, but does need decluttering, mainly drawers & cupboards. I do have 2 weeks off next month so can really get stuck into everything & all being well keep the house nice & tidy for good!! Had an email from bank saying that I could transfer a balance to a rate of 7.9% LOB with them. Logged on with the promotional code & have been turned down! Why offer it me in the first place
?! Sorted through the CC cheques & have to make sure we play it right. Don't want to break any T & C's & end up paying more in interest than we already are. I reckon we can transfer around £1,500 off overdraft onto low LOB cards, so that will help. OH applied for MBNA card at 0% til next March, but has to wait 7 days for adecision(which usually means she will be declined:rolleyes: )! Anyway we'll keep plodding along & hopefully we can start to turn things around. Changed Sig to include new debt that we have to pay! All the best to you all!! With regard to the overpayment, definitely go back to them with a payment plan - do this in writing. Explain that you advised them at the time of the overpayment, and therefore the delays are down to them and not you.
Offer a plan that you can deal with, and enclose a cheque for the first payment. If they come back and tell you that they want it all, just tell them you can't afford that, and this is what you can afford. If they threaten you with court, once again point out the delay is down to them, and you are offering to pay. No court will listen to a word they say....
Good luck with DD.... why not tie in her housework contribution with TV time, mobile phone top up etc... earn her keep?? I used to help her with dusting, hoovering etc.... all before I was 10.
I still hate washing up though.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Thanks BB, to be fair the letter they have sent isn't threatening, just telling her what she has been overpaid, with a breakdown of how they come to that total. Will know whether they will accept our offer, we were looking at maybe paying £5 a week. Re the housework, we are getting there slowly & we do give DD pocket money & one of the things that we are going to try is to spend an hour a day, every weekday cleaning & tidying a room & one day a week when OH is off she will go over the whole house. One way or another, we will sooner or later get on top of things!! Hi all! Well not been on much recently with one thing & another. Been a strange month really & we have done much better than we thought we would! We have managed to clear another £238 off debts so very pleased with that, especially when we thought we had actually added to our debts! Hopefully we can do even better in Feb, as we have no council tax to pay, although we do have to invest in a new tumble dryer, as ours has packed up! Found out yesterday that we may be entitled to a tax rebate for Child Allowance not paid in 2002. Rushed down to tax office yesterday & filled in form. Don't know if we will definately get it but if we do it will be £529! So keeping fingers crossed on that one but at the same time not getting hopes up too much!! So here is our new monthly update, thanks for reading.

Hi Lucielle! Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. Yep, seem to be getting he work/life balance about right, with OH dong a few extra shifts a month it doestake the pressure off a hell of a lot. Wedding plans going very well & we're always looking at ways we can do things cheaper. We've decided to use our own car & use it as the wedding car for OH, rather than hire a car, so that will save us a few quid. Relative of ours is a florist so will do us a good deal there & we have even saved on invitation cards, using a card shop in the market in town & paying £1.49 for a pack of 40, rather than £3.75 for 10 at Clintons! As you say I seem quite cheerful & to be honest OH & I no longer let the debts get us down, no matter how many obstacles get in the way. We know that we will get there in the end & are going to live life the way we want to, rather than let the debts dictate how e live our life. We know we can't move to that big house in a better area, or go out & buy a brand new car & have realised that even if we could do that, would i make us any happier? So we will deal with the debts & as long as we keep our eyes on the ball & are sensible, we will keep the debts under control. Thanks for your reply & all the best, will catch up with your diary over the weekend.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028.
