Thanks all! Still on a bit of a hangover from last year regarding most things & felt a bit down on Tuesday, but couldn't figure out why & I have turned down overtime a couple of times this week!! Need to start getting organised! Started the new year with a new found energy but feel sluggish already:confused: ! Happy with last night though, the Rams beating Man Utd:j ! Just a shame we couldn't score more cos it will defo be a different story at Old Trafford! Went to the local with OH to watch it! Also got a big game coming up against our big rivals Forest in FA Cup & getting a ticket for that one, at £25 not too bad in this day & age. Sorry to those of you not interested in football!! OH's birthday too this month & we have paid anoher £1,000 off wedding & are also starting to buy things for wedding too, OH's Mum has sent us a cheque for £1,200, which was a lovely surprise as we thought that she was giving us £1,000. We appreciate it so much & it has helped us out no end. So it does look like another expensive month, so need to kick myself up the aris & dig in & do overtime! Thanks for reading & all the best, have to dash now!!

OK I'm back, just given DD's BF a lift home! Gosh don't they grow up quick! He's a smashing lad & has done her the world of good, as she is getting out & about to cinema, shopping etc. with him, instead of being stuck on computer 24/7(hark at me:rolleyes: )! Regarding the housework, had a chat with DD & never really wanted it to come to this, but have been hoping that she would start wanting to get the bus home from school with her mates. Felt that something has to give so we can start getting on top of housework, so when OH is on nights, DD can get bus home & I can do overtime, get dinner ready & have a tidy up most days, as at the moment I am literally getting in from work, having a cup of tea & sandwich, then it's straight out the house to pick DD up, so without sounding like I'm moaning it does knacker me out, as I am up at 4.30am & just feel shattered 5 days a week. Hopefully by doing this we can get some sort of routine going so we can keep on top of things!

  • Sounds like a plan hopefully DD will enjoy the extra responsibility. I know what you mean about the drop in mood. Since being back at work I just feel drained. Took yesterday off in the end. Feel better today but now an extra day behind. Made a bit of progress on our housework. Did half of the kitcheh and it looks much better. Easier to keep tidier too. Just need to keep it going at the weekend.

Glad to here the wedding savings are adding up.

Thanks KP! Got to have an hours sitdown tomorrow night to sort everything out. Been bombarded with cheques offering low LOB's from our CC companies, which if we play it well should help us big time, but on the down side Mint have decided to lower our CC limit without notice & we are now £500 over until a payment of £700 goes through. So will ring them soon to make sure we don't incur charges. Nationwide have also decided to lower our overdaft limit at the end of the month, so tomorrow night will be a case of uggling everything onto as lower interest as possible! Yes KP,at 14 DD needs to start being a little more independent to be honest. Don't mind at all giving her a lift anywhere, but the short busride from school should make life alot easier for all of us regarding housework, cooking tea etc when OH is on nights. Doing a little overtime after my shift tomorrow, but going to knock doing any before shift on the head from now on, so I get a good nights sleep. OK will miss the cash but I just feel that getting up at 2-3am isn't doing me any good at all. The sig looks scary now, but some payments going through & I like to keep the balance on whatsthecost as accurate as possible IYKWIM. Thanks for reading & chat soon!!

sounds like you're life is hectic no wonder you've struggled with housework and are feeling drained. I'm another one who can't seem to get my head around housework, i hate it. I try so hard and am trying to declutter but it just doesn't happen quick enough for me.
good luck and like Hypno says if you find the secret to it please let us know.

OH had a letter today from her old workplace where she worked over 2 years ago, saying that they had overpaid her by over £1,300. It is right because at the time they kept paying her when she had left, so she rang up to sort it out. They said at the time thanks for letting them know & that they will be in touch. As time went by we forgot about it(this was before our LBM & we did intend to put the money aside to pay them back but it just ended up getting swallowed up in all our debts). They are going to send an invoice out for us to pay them back. OH has been on nights so not had chance to speak to her yet about it(I opened the letter & never open her mail, but it had her old workplace's name on envelope so I knew that it would be about the overpayments). So what little progress we have made since LBM has been knocked back big time! So tonight is going to be a complete overhaul of finances start to very slowly put things right.

Thanks LT for your reply, I guess life is hectic at times but I guess the majority of you folks lead hectic lives too. How people manage to keep their homes clutter free whilst both working full time & doing overtime is beyond me at times! Hopefully the new routine of starting work at 6 am rather than 3-5 am will help us keep on top of things, I know we could do with the money but starting work at those times takes it's toll after a while! Back later, thanks for reading & replying

Hi! There does need to be a balance between earning as much as possible and everything else in your life! Things are stressful enough without factoring in the tetchiness that creeps in from being sooo tired. Much better to find a level at which things are manageable and work to that budget. Or before you know it, you'll get to the point where everything is too much and give up (thus undoing all your good work to date!) You may even find that you are able to do a little extra on the overtime every now and then when you are on top of things and this will be a bonus!!

Wishing you all the very best, Nats x

Hi, haven't posted here before but have followed your threads....

Bad news about the overpayments (isn't there always something!?!) but surely if it was their mistake, you should be able to pay it off on your terms, not theirs....?

Re the clutter, I have a full time job, a 2yr old DS, very un-tidy (and un-helpful OH) and a dog who gets his toys out the basket every day to deposit them all over the house (along with his fur!) and I can assure you my house is anything BUT clutter free. Things here get organised into piles, then left until I have a day off to sort them out. Houseworkis done afetr 9pm once OH has gone to work and DS is asleep..... HTH

Hi LTM07, we have 4 (untidy) children dog and cat. Our house is by no means a palace and my theory is that dust can only get so deep! My OH works fulltime and I have a varied work pattern (have 2 horses that take up a lot of time) and I find housework does take a back seat. Would it help to have certain days to do certain things? My chaps know that Fridays are rooms tidy and they have to hoover them, Wednesday mornings are ironing etc. Hope you get the old work situation sorted.
