Dial button broken on storage heaters

HI the other day i was setting the temperature for my storage heaters and the dial snapped off in my hand so now i cant set the heat settings anymore .I gave the dial to the builder and he said he is going to get a replacement....i dont think that getting a new dial is going to work as it has snapped off from the metal "stem" that seems to open up the bricks to let more heat out....Question is,,,is it a simple repair or do i need a new heater...the heater is brand new , well 6 mths old...thanks for your replies x

Hi Ladybird20
It may be helpful if you could state which make of storage heater it is; I think Creda and Dimplex are the main ones.
This link gives you prices for the controllers for the Dimplex range (these are the type I have in my house):

You can also get them on Ebay:

Hi Ladybird20
If they work the same as my Dimplex ones, they simply push onto the metal stem (sometimes they come off accidentally when I change the settings); take care to line the controller up when installing it as it only fits on one way; its hard to confirm from the website's picture if they are exactly the same type of fit, it might be worth giving the company a call before you buy.0 -
brilliant and thank you x0

Hi Ladybird20
Just as a final thought you may want to contact an official Heatstore supplier first; there may even be one near you and they may be more reliable and/or cheaper; you can get a list here:
