  • This is a very good website with lots of energy saving advice:

Assume that your property is all electric therefore you probably have electric heating and water, ask your electricity supplier if you are on the best tariff for your needs i.e storage heaters 'charge up' over night therefore you will need a tariff which charges less at night such as economy7.

Low Energy light bulbs are a good start. You can get them quite cheaply now. Keep the old ones so you can put them back in if you move.

You can get low energy lightbulbs free of charge if you are on benefits (or you can get someone else to claim them for you ;))

Things like turning the TV plug off before you go to bed is another.

Only turn on your washer / dishwasher / dryer etc. when you have full loads in them.

We used to live in a flat when I was young...
For heating, wear extra layers instead of turning it up or on.
Cooking..Buy a microwave to do most of your cooking and a multisection saucepan for your hob so you can cook all your vegies or whatever on 1 ring.
    lighting buy energy saving bulbs.
hygiene have showers instead of baths. You can buy one that goes on your taps.
Laundry ..if you have a machine,do full loads, wash at 40 or lower. if you have a drier clean the filter every time and if it has a hose going to outside for venting, stick your hoover nozzle up there and suck out the lint which gathers there about every 6 months. If you can, hang washing from the window using a caravan clothes airer (sometimes the window ledge is the wrong shape) or have the V shaped type that sit over your bath.
Do your dishes in a bowl in the sink.
Dont leave your TV on if you arent watching it.
